Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached India on Thursday from Paris after the conclusion of his three-day official visit to Germany, Denmark and France. PM Modi reached Paris on the last leg of his three-nation Europe tour and was given a grand welcome by French President Emmanuel Macron.

PM Modi tweeted, “As always, a pleasure to meet my friend Emmanuel Macron. We had long talks on bilateral and global issues. India and France are proud development partners with our partnership spanning various sectors. My visit to France was brief but very fruitful. President Macron and I had the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics. I thank him and the French government for the warm hospitality.”

 

PM Modi held vivid discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron on a range of issues of bilateral, regional and global importance during his brief visit to Paris. They also held talked about enhancing the existing strength and success of the India-French strategic partnership.

During the talks, the issue of the Indo-Pacific and Ukraine crisis was also one of the important points. The two leaders also discussed regional and global issues in the wake of Russia’s military action against Ukraine.

They also held wide-ranging discussions on all major areas of bilateral relations including defence, space, civil nuclear cooperation and people-to-people ties. India and France recognized that they see each other as key partners in the Indo-Pacific region. After the delegation-level talks, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited French President Emmanuel Macron to visit India.

Indian community extended a grand welcome to PM Modi in Paris

 On the last leg of his Europe tour, PM Narendra Modi was warmly received by the Indian community in France. There was a crowd of Indians outside the hotel where Modi was to stay. There were also a large number of children present there and besides taking selfies with him, they took autographs from the PM.

 

 

PM Modi held meetings with Prime Ministers of Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland

PM Modi on Wednesday held bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of European countries Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland to discuss further strengthening India’s ties with these countries. Global and regional issues were also discussed in these meetings, which took place before the summit of the Nordic countries. Discussions were also held about increasing bilateral cooperation, mainly on green and renewable energy.

PM Modi said Norway is a strong pillar of Arctic policy

PM Modi, who arrived in Denmark on Tuesday, first met Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gaar Store. After the meeting, PM Modi tweeted `Had a fruitful meeting with Prime Minister Jonas. During this, we discussed further increasing our cooperation in the areas of Blue Economy, Clean Energy, Space and Healthcare. Norway is a strong pillar of the Arctic policy announced by India recently’.

Relations with Sweden will strengthened security and research

In a meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersen, the two leaders reviewed the Joint Action Plan for cooperation in renewable energy, defence, trade and investment, smart cities, women’s skill development, space and science, and health. After the meeting, PM Modi tweeted, `We talked about increasing bilateral cooperation on issues like security, IT, research and innovation. Strong relations between the two countries are in the interest of our people’.

 After the meeting, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress of India-Sweden’s ‘Lead IT’ initiative on climate change.

PM Modi met his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store in Copenhagen 

The two leaders took stock of the full range of bilateral relations, discussed ways to deepen developmental cooperation and exchanged views on regional and global developments.

Iceland to speed up process of India-EU FTA

PM Modi also held discussions on issues of geothermal energy, the marine economy, the Arctic, renewable energy, fisheries, food processing, education, digital universities and culture with Iceland’s Prime Minister Katrin Jakobsdottir.

Cooperation on future technology with Finland

PM Modi met Finland PM Sanna Marin and discussed strengthening bilateral ties in the field of trade, investment and technology. Modi said that there is immense potential for digital partnership, trade and investment between the two countries.

 Can contribute more to the prosperity of the world: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that together India and the Nordic countries can contribute more to the world’s prosperity and sustainable development. The PM said this after attending the second India-Nordic summit in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Norway together are called Nordic countries. The destabilizing effects of the Ukraine crisis and its wider regional and global ramifications were discussed at the conference. All the countries agreed to maintain close contact in the matter. Apart from Modi, Prime Ministers of other five countries were present in the conference.

The joint statement said that all the Prime Ministers are deeply concerned about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the contemporary world order should be based on the Charter of the United Nations, international laws and respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of countries.
