Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and said that the party will work to end dynastic misrule of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Telangana. The corporators were accompanied by Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Union minister G Kishan Reddy, who is also from the state.
“Met @BJP4Telangana corporators in GHMC and other party leaders from Telangana. We had wide-ranging discussions on how to focus on community service endeavours and help people at the grassroots. BJP will work for good governance and ending dynastic misrule in Telangana,” Modi said in a tweet after the meeting.
It is to be mentioned that the The BJP is eying the southern state for big gains after putting up a string of impressive electoral performances, including in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Assembly bypolls and Hyderabad municipal polls.
Seventy-eight BJP leaders, including 46 corporators, met Modi at his official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. According to sources, The meeting was scheduled for 30 minutes but with Modi speaking individually to the corporators asking them about their well-being, about their spouses, and children, the meeting went on for nearly an hour. Some of the corporators asked Modi to visit the Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar when he is in the city during the first week of July for the BJP’s national executive meet, Modi replied in the affirmative.
The recently elected Rajya Sabha member and senior party leader Dr K. Laxman, MLA D. Raja Singh, former MLAs N.V.S.S. Prabhakar and Ch. Ramachandra Reddy, and former MLC N. Ramchander, along with party spokesperson N.V. Subhash were among the others who attended the closed door meeting.
Requesting anonymity, a corporator said “The Prime Minister told us that if we worked hard, the BJP would win. He complimented us for our win in the GHMC polls. ‘Be with the people. You are the party. Your behaviour will reflect on the party’ he said.”
Telangana state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar tweeted after the meeting “Thank you very much Hon’ble PM Shri. @narendramodi Ji for insightful interaction. As per your vision, we will take forward @BJP4India’s message to people and end the despicable family rule in #Telangana.”
It is to be mentioned that BJP will be holding its national executive meeting in Hyderabad next month i.e. July.
